I photograph the people who make the day matter, without turning your wedding into a photoshoot.
I’m based on the edge of Brighton and have photographed weddings all over East Sussex. From country houses in Uckfield and Rye, church and town-centre weddings in Lewes, garden marquees, Brighton elopements to celebrations on private family land.
I know the places. More importantly, before your wedding I get to know the people.

As one of the top Sussex Wedding Photographers in the UK, I don’t think being unobtrusive means standing silently at the edge of the room all day. Most of the time I’m watching, anticipating and letting things happen. But when the light is disappearing, Nan needs a chair, your veil has twisted itself sideways or everyone needs gathering for a photograph, I’ll step in.
Supporting role by default. Ringleader when required.
Before the wedding I learn names, relationships and the bits of context that tell me where to look. Your guests aren’t background. They’re a huge part of the reason you’re planning a proper celebration in the first place.
That’s also why portraits don’t need to swallow your drinks reception. I’ll give you enough direction that you never feel awkward, get what we need efficiently, and send you straight back to the party.

I don’t need to have photographed your venue before to photograph it well. Venue experience gives me a head start; knowing how to read light, people and a wedding day is the skill I bring everywhere.

East Sussex isn’t a destination I travel to. It’s where I work.
I’m based on the edge of Brighton, and East Sussex weddings are a normal part of my calendar — not somewhere I need to arrive hours early just to work out the geography.
That local familiarity is useful. I know how quickly Brighton traffic can make a “ten-minute” journey stop being ten minutes. I know Lewes can give you town, castle, gardens and countryside without travelling very far. I know Buxted Park’s Orangery is actually useful when it rains.
I do the thinking before the moment, so I can leave the moment alone.
But I don’t want the photographs to look like I’ve shot the same East Sussex wedding fifty times. Venue knowledge should give me more freedom to pay attention — not a formula to repeat.

WHAT WORKING WITH ME ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
Relaxed does not mean leaving everything to chance.
The reason I can work quietly for so much of the wedding is because I’ve already done a lot of thinking before I arrive.
I learn who your people are.
Names, relationships and context help me recognise the moments that matter to you. It also makes family photographs dramatically less painful when I can call people by name instead of shouting “bride’s brother?” into a crowd.
I protect the parts of the day you care about.
If you want to actually attend your drinks reception, I plan portraits around that. If family photographs matter, we make them efficient. If you hate being photographed, I don’t spend an hour making you perform for me.
I photograph what happens around the obvious moment.
The kiss matters. So does the person crying three rows back, the look between your parents and the friend already reaching for you before you make it down the aisle.
I’ll give direction when direction helps.
Couple portraits should not feel like an acting lesson. I’ll get you into good light, give you something useful to do and make small adjustments when they actually improve the photograph.
Rain changes the plan. It does not end it.
I’ve photographed enough British weddings to know that weather apps do not get final say. We move things, wait for gaps, use indoor light and make decisions around the day you’re actually having.
Your photographs still need to look like real life.
My colour work stays true to life, alongside black-and-white photographs where the moment suits it. I want skin to look like skin, greenery to look green and your flowers to look like the flowers you chose.

Where are you based?
I’m based on the edge of Brighton and photograph weddings across East Sussex, including Brighton and Hove, Lewes, Uckfield, Rye, Battle and the surrounding countryside.
Which East Sussex wedding venues have you photographed?
I’ve photographed weddings at venues including Buxted Park Hotel, Brickwall House, Pelham House and around Lewes and Brighton, as well as church weddings, private estates and marquee celebrations across the county.
Does it matter if you haven’t photographed our venue before?
No. Knowing a venue can be useful because I already understand its quirks, but I don’t need a pre-existing shot list to photograph a wedding well. Reading light, understanding how a day flows and paying attention to people are skills I bring to every venue — including ones I’m seeing for the first time.
What is your wedding photography style?
People-first and largely documentary, with direction when it is useful. I want the day to look and feel like yours, while still making sure portraits and family photographs are flattering, efficient and worth printing.
Do you photograph weddings outside East Sussex?
Absolutely. East Sussex is local, but I regularly photograph weddings across West Sussex, Surrey, Kent, London and further afield in the UK and overseas.
How long do couple photographs usually take?
There is no mandatory hour-long portrait session. Many of my couples prefer a couple of short pockets during the day so they can spend the drinks reception with their guests. We plan it around what you actually want.
What happens if it rains?
We adapt. I’ll look at the light, the venue and the forecast and move photographs around rather than forcing them into a bad weather window simply because a timeline says it is portrait time.
