Where can you legally get married in Brighton?
Only council-approved venues can host the legal part of your wedding with a registrar. Everywhere else is a reception venue: you marry at the Town Hall (or another licensed venue) first, or have a celebrant-led ceremony on the day and sign the legal paperwork separately.

Regency rooms, a palace and a bandstand on the beach.
These are the places to say the legal bit. Most couples pair one with a separate reception venue, which is one of the best things about getting married in Brighton: everything is walkable, and the walk between them makes for some of the best photos of the day.

THE LANES
Brighton Town Hall
Brighton's register office, with a sweeping staircase made for portraits. Choose the elegant Regency Room for up to 46, the Council Chamber for bigger crowds, or the tiny Floral Room for just the two of you plus four.
Wedding cost guide2026/27 fees: Regency Suite from £350 (Mon–Thu) to £605 (weekends); Council Chamber from £770 to £905; Wednesday-morning Floral Bijou £195. Fees include the registrars.

CITY CENTRE
The Royal Pavilion
George IV's seaside palace: chandeliers, Chinoiserie and dragon-topped ceilings. Marry in the Red Drawing Room or the Music Room, then take drinks onto the King's Lawn in summer. No dancing in the Banqueting Room, so plan the party elsewhere.
Wedding cost guideListed for April 2026–March 2027: Red Drawing Room ceremony £1,100; Music Room ceremony £2,800; drinks reception £1,800. Registrar fees are extra.

The Brighton Bandstand
The prettiest spot on the seafront, between the piers. A ceremony up here comes with sea air, passing applause and incredible light. Bookings run April to September.

PRESTON PARK
Preston Manor
An Edwardian manor with exclusive use of the whole house. Marry in the Entrance Hall or by the lily pond in the walled garden, with drinks on the croquet lawn.

The Secret Garden, Kemptown
A hidden walled garden in Kemptown with a loggia for shelter if the weather turns. One of Brighton's prettiest (and least known) places to say your vows outdoors.

Churches turned galleries, a Victorian pumping station and a football stadium.
These spaces let you bring your own caterers, florists and styling, so they suit couples with a vision. Several aren't licensed, so pair them with a Town Hall ceremony or a celebrant-led ceremony on the day.

A Town Hall ceremony followed by dinner at a favourite restaurant is one of the loveliest ways to get married in Brighton. These are the ones with wedding details I could verify. Even at a licensed venue, the registrar is booked (and paid) separately through Brighton & Hove Register Office. Popular Saturdays go a year or more ahead.

A per-person package, a minimum spend and dry hire can look wildly different on paper. Add up food, drinks, staff and the room before you compare.

Use the city between venues
A ceremony at the Town Hall or Pavilion and a short walk to your reception through the Lanes or along the seafront gives you natural, relaxed portraits.
THE LIGHT
Plan around golden hour
Sunset on the seafront is unbeatable. Ask your venue when the sun sets on your date and build twenty minutes for the two of you around it.
