As a surprise proposal photographer, this is the third proposal I’ve photographed where the couple proposes at the same time! All three have been completely unique. But each time the other person didn’t know when or where the engagement was going to happen. So they had to carry the ring and were constantly suspicious.
But oh my oh my is this kind of proposal extra special.
A Double Proposal with a Surprise Proposal Photographer
When M reached out, he was worried S would propose first, so said it had to be before a certain date. Why you ask? Well, she’d been telling everyone she’d be engaged by that date! And as she too had a ring for him, that reality was all very possible!
They had gone ring shopping together and found a matching set of engagement rings for their double proposal.
M found me when searching for a proposal photographer, as it was something they had discussed previously. M said despite her having her own ring and most likely being on the look out for a proposal photographer, her really wanted her to be surprised.
So the pressure was on!
Thankfully, I was fully successful at being unnoticeable until M told S to look over and see who else was there! MEEEEEEE
We then had the most amazing time running around Beachy Head. Laughing and relishing in the moment of their engagement!
How a Couple Proposes to Each Other at the Same Time
I’ve photographed three proposals now where the couple proposes to each other at the same time.
The second time was with the two sweetest men. These men are honestly the definition of soul mates. This double engagement proposal was an interesting one though as the other partner highjacked the proposal, tricked their partner into thinking it was just an anniversary shoot, and then the one who originally booked me just so happened to be carrying a ring too just in case. Wild I tell you!
In short, if this is something you hope to do too. Just figure out a way that works for you both. Communicate on what you two would both like for a proposal. Honestly, I think it’s perfectly fine to even plan the proposal together! Because in truth, I always tell my clients that it is often better if their partner is a little suspicious. The proposal itself is so quick that most people kind of black out and are in shock. You don’t have to necessarily share anything, but saying something like “I’ve got something really special planned today for you. Will you trust me and do whatever I say?” I promise they will be skipping along all day excited for what’s to come. So that equally works for a proposal where you both plan to propose. It gives them a little indication that maybe they should take your ring with them too!
Beachy Head Engagement with Proposal Photographer in UK
As the top proposal photographer in the UK, I’ve photographed proposals all over the country and even gone abroad when my schedule allows.
But one place I return to time and again is Beachy Head. It is one of those rare places that is an incredible walk at sunset and completely empty! Everyone – and I mean everyone – goes home before 6:30 PM. I always recommend it to clients looking for somewhere really private. It is honestly one of the best places to propose.
Till next time,
