During Lou + Dan’s St. Bartholomew’s Church wedding ceremony, there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. Though I must admit I can’t say for certainty – I couldn’t see very well through my own tears! There was so much love on their wedding day, and it gives me chills just thinking about it now. Saying that is a real testament to how amazing their day was.

Though a camera has this incredible ability to preserve moments, it ironically also takes the person behind the camera out of the moment. I literally died a little inside the day I saw a grandma behind her bright pink iPad during an entire wedding ceremony. And if you’re wondering, that’s why I encourage my couples to tell family in advance that I provide an online gallery with free digital downloads – and it’s why I rarely cry at at weddings. But Lou + Dan’s wedding was different. Their words of love and tears of joy were able to cut right through that barrier a camera so often provides,

A St. Bartholomew’s Church wedding in Surrey

St. Bartholomew’s Church holds a special place in Lou’s heart – she’d always dreamed of getting married in her church. So when Dan popped the question, the two set about finding the perfect wedding venue that would accommodate all their loved ones. The Mercure Box Hill Burford Bridge Hotel ticked all the boxes – and it wasn’t far from where we did their engagement photography (which you can take a peek at here).

When it came to the big day itself, Lou + Dan both looked incredible. The looks they kept giving each other throughout the day said it all! Lou had a beautiful long veil to complement her wedding dress, and Dan looked so dapper in his coattails and top hat.

There was a lot of laughter on their wedding day, and some of the best speeches I’ve ever heard. I found myself laughing and crying right alongside their family and friends the entire day.

It’s almost 7 months on from our wedding and I don’t think I’ve EVER had such a wonderful set of photos. I’ve gone back to look them time and time again since we got them and each time I’ve looked, I’ve loved them even more and have seen something that I hadn’t spotted before. The way you seamlessly became an integral and sometimes invisible part of our day, yet still managed to gather such wonderful moments, is a testament to your skills. The photos are superb, and have filled  our families with so much joy, that I just had to thank you again. – Dan
