This Southover Grange wedding was part of a 4 day celebration for Harry and Fraser. These two love a party, and that's exactly what their Saturday wedding was all about. But when they found there wasn't a registrar available to book for their Northbrook Park wedding, they opted for a legal ceremony at Lewes Register Office.
So in lieu of an engagement shoot, I joined them for their legal ceremony at Lewes Register Office and then in about 10 minutes, we took some charming wedding photos at the Southover Grange Gardens. These two were fairly nerves to have professional photographs taken, so I brought the energy they said they wanted to see and we had a good laugh. It was perfect practice for their grand wedding at Northbrook Park.
I feel so lucky to have been a part of their special day in Lewes, capturing the calm, heartfelt moments that will be treasured for years to come.
A Calm, Perfect Start at Lewes Register Office
I met Harriet and Fraser, along with their nearest and dearest outside Lewes Register Office. Southover Grange is my favourite registry office for intimate weddings. Not only is the ceremony space elegant, but the gardens look incredible year round.
The Lewes Register Office is a wonderfully intimate place to exchange vows. With its historic and peaceful setting, it offers a calm start to a day filled with meaning. Harriet, in a stunning dress, and Fraser, looking every bit the proud groom, shared heartfelt vows that had everyone smiling. Their ceremony was a perfect blend of quiet emotion, with every glance and every word between them speaking volumes about their connection.

Southover Grange Wedding: The Ideal Location for Photos
After the ceremony, we all headed to Southover Grange Gardens, which is just right outside Lewes Register Office. Open to the public, its the perfect spot for some wedding photos. This beautiful garden, with its picturesque flower beds, towering trees, and peaceful atmosphere, was the perfect spot for Harriet and Fraser’s portraits.
With a restaurant booking in Brighton to get to, we used the 12 minutes it took a family member to get their car for photographs. We wandered through the gardens, capturing everything from soft, intimate moments to joyful laughter. These photos are a true reflection of their personalities—laughter, natural, and filled with love.
There’s something truly magical about Southover Grange. Whether you’re getting married at the Southover Grange wedding venue or simply using the gardens for your something like engagement photos, it’s a beautiful spot. The garden is a serene oasis in the heart of Lewes.

The Perfect Start to Their Big Celebration at Northbrook Park
While Harriet and Fraser’s Lewes Register Office ceremony was intimate and low-key, their big wedding celebration at Northbrook Park later that week was an entirely different affair—bigger, grander, but no less meaningful. They had the full day of festivities with friends and family, celebrating in style with a larger ceremony, a grand reception, and all the wedding-day magic you could imagine.
But there’s something to be said for the intimate, personal moments that took place at their Southover Grange wedding in Lewes. Their Lewes Register Office ceremony and their Southover Grange wedding venue photoshoot was just for the two of them.
Why Lewes Register Office and Southover Grange are Perfect for Small, Intimate Weddings
If you’re considering a smaller, more intimate ceremony before your larger celebration, Lewes Register Office and Southover Grange Gardens could be the perfect fit for you. And then there is Southover Grange - just outside Lewes Registry's doors. The gardens are stunning year-round, and the venue itself is as beautiful as it is versatile. Whether you’re looking for romantic portraits in the garden or a peaceful moment on a quiet path, this location offers so much charm and character.
