Just off the High Street, but it feels like the countryside.
Pelham House is a rare thing. It's a country house wedding in the middle of a gorgeous, historic town. You can marry here, walk two minutes up the road to Lewes Castle, or pop round to the pretty gardens at Southover Grange, and still be back in the gardens for drinks before anyone’s glass is empty. I love that the whole of Lewes becomes part of your wedding.
Pelham House has licensed ceremony spaces both indoors and out, including the George Goring room for more intimate ceremonies. Guests can stay at The Courthope Mews on site or the top floor of the venue.

The gardens
Tucked behind the house and walled off from the town, the gardens are where you’ll have drinks, group photographs and a few quiet minutes of portraits without ever feeling far from your guests.
The George Goring room
For smaller ceremonies or rainy days, the George Goring room is intimate and full of character. Everyone is close enough to see your faces, and so am I.
The castle and the High Street
Lewes Castle is a two-minute walk away. A wander up the High Street gives you portraits with the town itself as your backdrop, and gets you back to the party quickly.

Have you photographed at Pelham House before?
Yes. I photographed a Lewes Castle wedding with the reception at Pelham House, worked with the venue on a shoot after its renovation, and photographed weddings there since. It’s one of my favourite places in Lewes.
Where can we get married?
Pelham House has licensed ceremony spaces indoors and out, including the George Goring room for smaller ceremonies. Lewes Castle is a two-minute walk away, and the Register Office at Southover Grange is a few minutes on foot. See a Lewes Castle wedding or a Southover Grange wedding.
What happens if it rains?
With indoor ceremony rooms and the house right there, a rainy day barely changes the plan. I keep an eye on the sky so we can nip into the gardens or onto the High Street the moment it clears.
