When it comes to family photography in Sussex, we are spoilt for beautiful locations. One of my favourites is gardens – be it a public park or your own back garden.

Zoe and Byron booked me for their wedding photography at Buxted Park Hotel and added on a family session to their collection so that their little humans would be more comfortable around me on the day.

Weddings can be pretty overwhelming for children, but thankful I became best of friends with those two gorgeous humans. We not only had lots of fun at their engagement shoot, but also on their wedding day.

Garden Family Photography in Sussex

I always recommend areas with good tree coverage for sessions with young children. Lighting can be too harsh at other locations when littles have the most energy, so a place with lots of shade is perfect.

I also love a place with lots of space to run around and play. I’m very much a reportage style family photographer in Sussex. There is very little posing – just play and fun things to do.

I always joke for family photoshoots, the children are in charge. And us adults are there for the ride. Because every interaction with children is magical if we let it happen.

Even when children are shy and a bit uncertain, those cuddles are beautiful. If you have a look at Zoe and Byron’s wedding in particular, there is a black and white photograph where Zoe is cuddling her little girl. Her baby had a fall and it’s a beautiful moment between mum and daughter.
