HISTORIC + GRAND
Historic and grand engagement party venues in Brighton
High ceilings, stained glass and a proper wow when everyone walks in.
Brighton is full of Regency and Victorian buildings that have been given a second life as arts spaces, museums and event venues. Most of these charge a hire fee and let you bring your own caterers and styling, so they suit couples who want to create something from scratch.
Preston Park
St Augustine's Arts & Events Centre
A huge converted Victorian church with soaring ceilings, now a café and arts space. It's fully licensed, far more affordable than you'd expect and has a sunny front garden. Parking is easier than in the centre of town, too.
Kemptown
The Spire
St Mark's Chapel, a Grade II listed church from 1849, now run by a small arts charity. Gothic doors, stained glass, a 15m ceiling and a raw, creative feel. Festoon lights and candles look incredible in here.

The Old Market
A Grade II listed Regency building just back from Hove seafront, now an arts venue with its own bar, catering partners and an event manager to help you plan.
North Laine
The Old Courtroom
A former courtroom run by Brighton & Hove Museums, with grand civic features. A fun, slightly unexpected backdrop for a toast.
Preston Circus
Duke of York's Picturehouse
Brighton's oldest working cinema, open since 1910. You can screen whatever you like, and some couples put together their own film or a montage of favourite scenes. Follow it with drinks at The Joker over the road.
City centre
The Royal Pavilion
Regency opulence, chandeliers and Indian-inspired domes. Parties, live bands and dancing aren't allowed, so think of it for an elegant drinks reception or dinner rather than a late night.

Seaside engagement party venues in Brighton and Hove
Sea views, sunset drinks and that unmistakable seafront energy.
If you can, time the party so golden hour lands just after everyone arrives. A ten-minute walk on the beach for a few portraits of the two of you is the easiest win of the whole night.

Ask about windows and terraces
Big windows, a terrace or a golden-hour start time make a huge difference to your photos. Basements and clubs look amazing; just make sure you've got a lot of fake or real candles and maybe even some string lights.
THE MONEY
Hire fee or minimum spend?
Bars and pubs often waive the hire fee if you hit a minimum spend. Arts spaces and churches usually charge hire but let you bring your own caterers.
THE RULES
Check the small print
Some venues don't allow live bands, dancing and possibly even drinking. Ask before you plan the big moments.
