This dog-friendly wedding at Buxted Park Hotel proves that your furry best friend absolutely belongs at your big day! E+J couldn’t imagine getting married without their beloved dog by their side, and Buxted Park Hotel’s pet-friendly policy made their dream possible. This meant their adorable pup was part of every special moment.
As a recommended Buxted Park Hotel wedding photographer, I was thrilled to photograph my first dog-friendly wedding at this stunning East Sussex venue. Watching E+J include their dog in confetti photos, group portraits, and candid moments throughout the day showed me exactly why pet-friendly weddings are becoming so popular. If asking yourself if you should include your dog in your wedding at Buxted Park the answer is yes!
What makes Buxted Park Hotel perfect for dog-friendly weddings? For starters, the property is huge. So the grounds give dogs plenty of space to roam and the venue’s flexibility means your dog can be as involved as you want. Your dog can be with you while you get ready, be your ring-bearer at your ceremony and pose for pictures throughout the day. E+J even hired Tail & Snoot wedding dog chaperone service to ensure their little sausage pup was comfortable and happy throughout the celebration.
Why Buxted Park Hotel is Perfect for Dog-Friendly Weddings
If you’re searching for a dog-friendly wedding venue in East Sussex, Buxted Park Hotel will tick your boxes. Here’s why this country house venue works so beautifully for couples who want their dogs at their wedding:
Spacious Grounds for Dogs:
During E+J’s wedding at Buxted Park Hotel, their pup had plenty of space during the drinks reception while staying close to the celebration. The manicured lawns and garden areas provide perfect spots for photos without feeling cramped or restrictive.
Flexible Pet-Friendly Policy:
Unlike many wedding venues with strict no-pets policies, Buxted Park Hotel welcomes well-behaved dogs. You can include your dog in as much or as little of the day as feels right for you. Some couples have dogs for just the ceremony and portraits, while others (like E+J) keep them around for most of the celebration.
Multiple Outdoor Ceremony Spaces:
Buxted Park offers several outdoor ceremony locations, making it easy to include dogs at your ceremony. The Coat of Arms Lawns provide a stunning backdrop for vows, and dogs can comfortably attend outdoor ceremonies without disrupting indoor spaces. E+J’s outdoor ceremony was perfect for their dog to join them for the special moments afterward.
Professional Support Available:
The venue works seamlessly with pet services like Tail & Snoot wedding dog chaperones. Having a professional dog handler means your pet stays comfortable, gets walks when needed, and you don’t have to worry about logistics on your wedding day.
Beautiful Photo Opportunities:
The classical architecture of the Georgian Manor combined with natural grounds creates gorgeous backdrops for photos with your dog. From formal couple portraits on the steps to candid shots in the gardens, Buxted Park’s versatility shines for pet photography.
Getting ready at Buxted Park Hotel
E would probably an understatement when I say I’ll do anything for my couples. For the first time photographing here, the couple and many of their guests from the previous night were late checking out. E dreamed of getting ready in the Churchill Suite. Her disappointment was really evident so when the videographer and I tried to cheer her I up with the alternative accommodation provided, I asked bluntly: “E you wouldn’t care if the room is 100% cleaned would you?” When she said not at all, I literally blotted from the room to make arrangements with the wonderful woman cleaning the room. And before E knew it, she was getting ready exactly how she envisioned it. The room was actually ready to go by the time she walked in! With a few tears in her eyes from the relief, that was the biggest hiccup of the day and thankful short lived thanks to my quick thinking.

Outdoor Legal Ceremony at Country House Venue in Sussex
This wedding was a gorgeous floral explosion and the outdoor ceremony was no exception. E+J, along with a few close friends, DIYed all the flowers themselves. And to say my jaw dropped is probably an understatement. I truly think they did better than many wedding florists! I loved the meadow aisle they created.
And whilst their dog did not join for the ceremony, he was right there for confetti toss and some couple group portraits after.
But my favourite part of the ceremony was how they included their mothers in the ceremony. Both the groom and bride’s mother came and stood beside them and some of the sweetest words I’ve ever heard were spoken.

Ballroom Reception at Buxted Park Hotel
The floral explosion continued into the reception. J did an incredible job on the wedding cake and arranging the flowers in the room.

A Dog-Friendly Wedding to Remember
From the heartfelt vows to the unforgettable dance party later in the evening, this was truly a wedding I’ll never forget. But the one moment that will always stick with me? Watching E+J exchange vows, with their mothers by their side, surrounded by the beauty of Buxted Park Hotel. It was pure magic. And of course, their gorgeous dog creating cheeky chaos during group portraits.
If you’re looking for a dog-friendly country house wedding venue in East Sussex, I cannot recommend Buxted Park Hotel enough. Whether you’re planning a small, intimate gathering or a grand celebration, this venue has the versatility, charm, and space to make your day just as special as it deserves to be.
