Come rain or shine, a Kew Gardens wedding is guaranteed to be a stunner. And with how unpredictable the weather can be in England, Fei and Ric were lucky enough to enjoy both. Though it rained a lot, we had a few breaks in the weather to sneak away for some gorgeous couple portraits around Kew Gardens’ greenhouses and gardens. To top off the day, the sun broke out through the clouds right at golden hour, making everything really glisten in the light. To say this Kew Gardens wedding was perfect, might actually even be an understatement.
Kew Gardens wedding at the historic Cambridge Cottage
Fei and Ric’s wedding was full of such beautiful details, laughter and good times. Fei wore a bespoke Charlotte Wilden dress, and Ric looked ever so dapper in a dark navy suit. As a couple, they were beaming the whole day – even when it was raining, they took everything in stride and went with the schedule mother nature dictated.
Thankfully, the Kew Gardens’ wedding venue at Cambridge Cottage let in plenty of light so their photographs look as bright and cheery as the energy in the room. We also had plenty of flexibility when it came to photographing indoors at the greenhouses when the rain really started to tip it down. The only plans that really had to be altered was the confetti tunnel had to be done inside, but it worked out brilliantly. The bubbles really shown in the light inside Cambridge Cottage, making for some really stunning and bubble-filled photographs. If anyone is ever thinking of doing a bubble confetti tunnel – have a few bubble guns. BUT, word of caution, you’re friends will attack you with them (so make sure you’re armed to get them back)!
I had the pleasure of photographing this Kew Gardens wedding alongside Camilla Arnhold Photography. We’ve photographed a few weddings together now, and each one is such a joy!
