For lovers like me of light and airy, Buxted Park Hotel wedding photography is so dreamy. The country house venue is a Grade II listed Palladian mansion surrounded by a beautiful park and set on a hill overlooking the property. It was an absolute honour to photograph a wedding at Buxted Park Hotel.
Summer wedding at Buxted Park Hotel in Uckfield
Rebecca + Mike had an incredible wedding at Buxted Park. Surrounded by their loved ones, they celebrated long and hard. While I only recently did their engagement photography at Sheffield Park, their wedding day was a long time coming.
You see, Mike knows a good thing when he’s got it. Commenting on how long it took Mike to pluck up the courage to propose in his best man speech, Will said that Mike thought: “Everything is going so well with Rebecca, why would I change a thing?”
Little did Mike know that the best was yet to to come. And it only took being asked 27 (or was it 37?!) times at her sister’s wedding, that something must have clicked. Not long after the wheels were set in motion and Mike asked Rebecca to be his wife.
I feel incredibly fortunate that Rebecca + Mike chose me to be their photographer. Having photographed her sister’s wedding at Brookfield Barn, it felt like being around old family friends.
About Rebecca and Mike
How they met:
Rebecca + Mike met on a snowy night in 2012 at Infernos – a night club in Clapham. Mike was celebrating the Six Nations with friends and I was with friends, at the bar. Thanks to some liquid courage, Mike got up the nerve to approach Rebecca and after successfully wooing her, they exchanged numbers.
How they got engaged:
Mike took Rebecca back to the place they had their fourth date: Greenwich Park. He took her on a strange route up and down a bunch of hills in an attempt to find a spot void of dog walkers. When he finally found the perfect spot he asked Rebecca to point out buildings in the skyline whilst he got down on one knee. When Rebecca turned around she was in complete shock and they two of them spent an hour walking around the park before calling family.
Why the chose their wedding venue:
Rebecca and Mike thought Buxted Park Hotel was a statement in itself and didn’t need much decorating. They really loved the architecture, the ponds and landscaping.
Their inspiration for their wedding decor:
they wanted an elegant and classic vibe but one that also felt really fun, natural and relaxed. Rebecca wanted flowers and foliage dotted around, and the blue florals matched well with their personal details, such as their Spurs homemade cookies for guest favours. They really wanted their wedding to be very them, and put their own personal touches on things, like using Polaroid photos for people’s place names and getting family involved to contribute key elements. Mike’s mum made the cake, and Rebecca’s sister and cousin helped create unique invites and menus. Rebecca said that Pinterest was a huge source of inspiration, and that’s where she fell in love with eucalyptus and decided to make it the main foliage for the wedding.
