This bluebell engagement proposal in West Sussex was booked under the guise of a family photo session. Dan wanted to take family photographs at their special place. This is a place Dan went to as a child and where he regularly comes to play with his family. So when Dan reached out wanting to propose to girlfriend, he already had a plan in mind. The only trouble was ensuring his eldest child from a previous relationship could be there too. So that resulted in us taking photographs at the very end of bluebell season.
Thankfully because it was a family shoot, I was able to explore and get creative. I thankfully found a little patch that still had purple blooms and was able to use my biggest camera lens to compress the flowers to create illusion of more bluebells. To say I was panicking at the start of shoot is probably an understatement, but thankfully all fell into place and my quick thinking kicked in to ensure we had a great time playing in the wood.
The large lens also ensured we were able to keep to the paths, but look like the couple was in the midsts of the bluebells. Ensuring these beauties are protected for years to come is something I'm passionate about.
Surprise Proposal in Field of Bluebells
The plan for the secret bluebell engagement proposal was to start off as a family shoot so I could find the best spot for Dan. And the plan was for me to basically say, "This spot right here is so insanely gorgeous!" And then he could propose when he it felt was right. The children were really keen to play in the den nearby, so we took a handful of family photographs before letting them take a break and enjoy some snacks. Dan had planned to propose during a break while the kids had snacks, so this worked out perfect.
So I just told his partner, April, that whilst Dan got kids settled, we'd do some maternity photographs. This led perfectly into Dan's opportunity to get the ring from his bag and approach April with his big question.
He had the sweetest speech written out for her and April was beside herself with tears of joy. Let me tell you, this family is just so wonderful. I'm so excited to be photographing their wedding in 2025.

Bluebell Family Photoshoot
A bluebell family photoshoot is always such a fun session. Children love playing in the woods, and making these photoshoots fun comes easily. And this bluebell engagement proposal in West Sussex was one of my favourites!
This bluebell family photoshoot was so special as it marked their proposal and first official step to unit as one in marriage. I can't wait to see them again in 2025 and met their youngest addition to the family.
Till next time,
Kelsie
